Alphonsa Bhavan, Hamren was started in the year 1990. 0n 28th of July at the request of Late Bishop Mathai kochuparambil of Diphu diocese in Assam. This was our first house in Assam. It was the ardent desire of Bishop Mathai Kochuparambil to bring
FCC Sisters to his diocese as he was a great devotee of St. Alphonsa. The first members of the community were Sr. Elaiza, Sr. Jancy, and Sr. Daisy George. The people of the area belongs to Karbi Tribe. There are some other minor tribes such as Khasi, Adivasis and few Hindus.
Sisters are engaged in Education, evangelization, Health services and catechetical work. There is a boarding attached to the convent to assist the children who are in far away villages.
